In the
eerie woods a scared silence wonders about in the dark. Sharp claws hang down
from the towering trees. Glistening in the moonlight, scattered leaves on the
ground looked like heaps of diamonds waiting to be found. Usually a small
animal, possibly a mouse or vole, could be heard in the distance, looking
eagerly for food. Mysterious shadows lurked quietly through the hazy woods.

I like your use of adventurous vocabulary and subordinate clauses. Try to extend it.
