  Green Backed Spider

The Green Backed Spider is a rare and endangered species which inhabits the Amazon Rainforest.

This unique creature can be found high up in this canopy of the senipev trees. It spends the majority of its time spinning elaborate, green, sticky, slimy webs from tree to tree. The Green Back Spider only leaves the canopy once a year to barrow deep underground to lay eggs where it will stay for a month until the eggs are hatched.

Green Backed Spiders are omnivores and eat many of the insects which get caught in their sticky webs. However, been a predictor this clever Spider also lays traps for its favourite source of food the Deco and other small lizards. The female of the species also eat the male Spiders after mating which is unusual for Spiders.

The Green Backed Spider is aptly names because of its amazing emerald green colour. This creature is the size of an average mouse and it legs are 25cm long with webbed feet and claws at the end of their feet. These fantastic Spiders are experts at camouflaging themselves in the autumn since their colour change brown and red which makes them look like leaves.

If the Green Backed Spiders become extinct it will be tragedy, since they are magnificent creatures and are deserved to have respect and peace.
